Eagles 21 - Irvine 18
Irvine didn't want to have its playoff fate decided by a silver dollar, but its 21-18 loss to Santa Margarita on Saturday night gave them just that. The Vaqueros lost the toss to settle for fourth, and with its 4-5-1 overall record probably will not get a wild-card berth. Irvine finished 2-2-1 in league.
Newport Harbor 27 - Eagles 23
Jon Benzinger's 52-yard touchdown reception gave Newport Harbor a 27-23 victory against visiting Santa Margarita on Friday.
Corona del Mar 21 - Eagles 12
Brian Hogan had another excellent night, carrying 31 times for 182 yards and three touchdowns to spoil Santa Margarita's homecoming. The Sea Kings (4-4, 2-1) broke a four-team league logjam that included Santa Margarita (4-4, 12).
El Toro 33 - Eagles 9
The Eagles turned over the ball three times in their first nine plays of the third quarter and El Toro scored 17 points en route to a 33-9 Sea View League victory in front of a homecoming crowd of about 1,200 at Trabuco Hills High.
Eagles 21 - Woodbridge 14
Quarterback Chris Collins provided the inspiration and the Santa Margarita defense played takeaway for a 21-14 upset of previously unbeaten Woodbridge on Friday at Saddleback College.
Fountain Valley 29 - Eagles 17
The Barons rushed for 211 yards and two touchdowns in a 29-17 non-league victory over Santa Margarita at Orange Coast College. Quarterback Chris Ponchak ran for 103 yards and running back Matt Harrison chipped in with a strong second half for the Barons.
Eagles 26 - McFarland 0
Santa Margarita didn't have a rushing touchdown in the first three games of the season, but Friday night Eagles running back Brian Garrigan gained 119 yards and scored three touchdowns in a 36-0 non-league victory against host McFarland.
Eagles 17 - Huntington Beach 7
With two of Orange County's top teams in 1993 still looking for a victory this season, a lucky break was what both Santa Margarita and Huntington Beach needed Friday night. And just before halftime, Santa Margarita produced a disputed break that propelled the Eagles to a 17-7 non-league victory at Saddleback College.
Eagles 2 - Glendora 0
The Glendora High football team had to forfeit five victories for using an ineligible player. The player is an unidentified sophomore starter who was only 14 through the first six weeks of the season. California Interscholastic Federation rules require that varsity football players be at least 15.
Trabuco Hills 17 - Eagles 12
Keith Hocking led the Mustangs to a 17-12 victory over Santa Margarita at Trabuco Hills. He began the game with a 99-yard kickoff return and finished it with a leaping interception at the 10-yard line to preserve the victory.
