DL Rik Glover was chosen to play for the South Team in the annual Orange County All-Star Game. The game annually features the top 72 graduated football players in Orange County.

OL Josh Beckett, DL Brian Berg, DL Rik Glover, K Ryan Korinke, and WR Matt Nickels were named 1st Team All-Sea View League. WR Eric Brown, QB Chris Collins, OL Kris Farris, DB Brian Griffin, LB Matt Lucas, and RB Billy Newman were named to the 2nd team.

Irvine didn't want to have its playoff fate decided by a silver dollar, but its 21-18 loss to Santa Margarita on Saturday night gave them just that. The Vaqueros lost the toss to settle for fourth, and with its 4-5-1 overall record probably will not get a wild-card berth. Irvine finished 2-2-1 in league.

Jon Benzinger's 52-yard touchdown reception gave Newport Harbor a 27-23 victory against visiting Santa Margarita on Friday.

Brian Hogan had another excellent night, carrying 31 times for 182 yards and three touchdowns to spoil Santa Margarita's homecoming. The Sea Kings (4-4, 2-1) broke a four-team league logjam that included Santa Margarita (4-4, 12).

The Eagles turned over the ball three times in their first nine plays of the third quarter and El Toro scored 17 points en route to a 33-9 Sea View League victory in front of a homecoming crowd of about 1,200 at Trabuco Hills High.

Quarterback Chris Collins provided the inspiration and the Santa Margarita defense played takeaway for a 21-14 upset of previously unbeaten Woodbridge on Friday at Saddleback College.

The Barons rushed for 211 yards and two touchdowns in a 29-17 non-league victory over Santa Margarita at Orange Coast College. Quarterback Chris Ponchak ran for 103 yards and running back Matt Harrison chipped in with a strong second half for the Barons.

Santa Margarita didn't have a rushing touchdown in the first three games of the season, but Friday night Eagles running back Brian Garrigan gained 119 yards and scored three touchdowns in a 36-0 non-league victory against host McFarland.

With two of Orange County's top teams in 1993 still looking for a victory this season, a lucky break was what both Santa Margarita and Huntington Beach needed Friday night. And just before halftime, Santa Margarita produced a disputed break that propelled the Eagles to a 17-7 non-league victory at Saddleback College.

The Glendora High football team had to forfeit five victories for using an ineligible player. The player is an unidentified sophomore starter who was only 14 through the first six weeks of the season. California Interscholastic Federation rules require that varsity football players be at least 15.

Keith Hocking led the Mustangs to a 17-12 victory over Santa Margarita at Trabuco Hills. He began the game with a 99-yard kickoff return and finished it with a leaping interception at the 10-yard line to preserve the victory.
