John has emerged as one of the leaders on a big and athletic offensive line and is enjoying an outstanding season in 2001 as is second on the team with 30.5 decleaters. John collected two more decleaters against Rialto to give him 60 in his career - fourth best in school history. Finneran recorded a 71% grade and three decleaters against Servite. John recorded a season-high 5 decleaters against St. John Bosco and also had 4.5 against both Loyola (Offensive Lineman of the Game) and St. Paul.

2000:
John earned All-Serra League honors in 2000 after collecting 29.5
decleaters and player of the Game honors twice. John had a consistent
and productive year helping the team to an average of 209.3 yards
rushing per game playing primarily as a guard. John had a fine
game against A.B. Miller earning a 75% grade and collecting a
team-high four decleaters. In Week 10 Finneran registered five
decleaters. John had four decleaters against St. John Bosco and
Bishop Amat. John had an outstanding game against Norco with a
season-high six decleaters in leading the way for an offense that
gained nearly nine-yards-per-play.
Misc:
Finneran's athleticism has allowed him to play both tackle and
guard in his career, and he is gaining a lot of attention from
Division I-A recruiters. John's cousin Brian Finneran was a former
Eagle standout who currently plays for the Atlanta Falcons. John
had a fine day at the 2001 Nike Combine in April. Finneran has
worked hard in the weight room gaining 15 pounds from last season
and consistently running the 40 in the low to mid 4.9's. Finneran
has a 21" vertical jump and has squatted 405 and benched
255 in this off-season.
