Nick has enjoyed another record setting year as the All-Orange
County and All-CIF candidate has scored a county record 98 points
via kicking. The 98 points are good for 3rd place on the States
all-time single season scoring list. With nine points against
Newport Harbor, Nick now has 179 points in his career which
is good for 4th place on the Eagles all-time scoring list,
and 6th place on the States all-time scoring list (unofficial).
He is within 7 points of the state single season scoring record
of 105, and 7 points from 5th place on the States career
scoring list. He also kicked two field goals for the third time
in his career. At Servite, Nick tied his school record with
seven PATs and added a 20-yard field goal. He has yet to miss
from less than 40 yards on the season. Against Katella, Sparks
extended his school mark by scoring in his 25th consecutive
game by hitting six PATs and adding a 29-yard field goal. On
the season, Sparks has connected on 68 of 70 PATs and 10 of
14 field goals. He nailed a school record seven PATs vs. both
Irvine and Servite. Nicks field goals have covered 46,
44, 44, 40, 39, 37, 31, 29, 20 and 20 yards.
Misc. Nick has set or tied 17 team records including
points kicking in a season (98) and career (179), PATs (68),
PAT attempts (70), field goals (10), and field goal attempts
(16) in a season, PATs in a game (7, twice), field goals in
a game (2, three times), longest field goal attempt (53 yards),
career field goals (20), field goal attempts (30), PATs (119),
PAT attempts (123), season (.971) and career PAT pct. (.967)
and consecutive games scored (27). Nick is tied with Ryan Korinke
with the highest field goal pct. - .667 (20 of 30). (Ryan Korinke
hit 12 of 18).
In 1996, Nick was named to the All-Sea View League and All-Orange
County teams. He hit 37 consecutive PATs at one point and sent 24 kickoffs
into the endzone.
