League Notes

With the win over El Toro the Eagles finished their six year run in the Sea View League with an all-time record of 25-9. Santa Margarita’s .735 winning percentage in league play since 1992 is ahead of second best Newport Harbor’s .676 (23-11) over the same period.

Three of the top five teams in the CIF Division V playoffs hail from the Sea View League (#1 Santa Margarita, #4 Newport Harbor and #5 Woodbridge).

With the win over Irvine in Week 8 the Eagles clinched their eighth playoff berth in nine seasons. The win over Woodbridge in Week 9 gave the Eagles their 2nd consecutive Sea View League Championship. The win over El Toro gave the Eagles their 2nd 10-0 regular season. The 1990 team started 12-0 before losing 13-7 to Baldwin Park.

The Eagles became the first team since Irvine in 1992-93 to repeat as Sea View League Champions.
