Lakewood - Game Notes

This is the Eagles' 138th varsity game and 71st home game. They have posted a record of 101-35-1 (.741) as they enter Week 3 of their 12th varsity season. Santa Margarita's all-time home record is 55-14-1 (.793).

This is the Eagles' 63rd game at Saddleback College, and their all-time record there stands at 50-11-1 (.815). They have gone 9-2 since 1989 in their first game each year at Saddleback College.

The Eagles'.741 winning percentage is the best in Orange County. (See "A Winning Tradition" herein.)

This is the first game between Santa Margarita and the Lakewood Lancers and their first against an L.A. County team since losing to Alemany 42-28 in Week 7 of the 1999 season.

Lakewood is a Division I school competing in the Long Beach-based Moore League. They finished the 1999 season 5-6 losing to Los Alamitos 28-0 in the first round of the CIF SS Division I playoffs.

The Eagles have done well against Division I teams over the years posting a 17-10 (.630) record.

The Lancers are 2-0 and ranked 7th in Division I. Eagles are ranked 9th. Santa Margarita has been ranked in the Division I Top 10 for 10 of the past 13 polls, and in the Orange County Top 10 for 52 of the past 59 polls.

Week 3 has been kind to the Eagles over the years. They have posted a 10-1 record and won three straight.
