Series Facts: Irvine leads the series, 1-0. Last year's game was one of the top high school matches of the year as Irvine won the see-saw battle, 40-34. That contest was the first in what could be a very intense rivalry.
1993 Outlook: Irvine will have to recover from losing close to 80% of its starters from the 1992 championship team. They have done it in the past and have slotback Tony Mathis back. Once again, Irvine will be the team to beat in the Sea View League. They open with Esperanza, CIF Division II co-champions, so this will be a true test of the Vaqueros strength.
