Series Facts: Newport leads the series, 1-0. The 1992 game was for second place in teh league, and the Sailors used a swarming defense to riddle the Eagle, 27-16. Even though Santa Margarita had over 400 yards in total offense, five turnovers did them in.
1993 Outlook: Newport advanced to the CIF finals last year and they return a lot of talent from that team. Wade Tift and Steve Gonzalez return as top players on both sides of the ball. The Sailors will surely be among the top teams in the league once again. Brinkley, who coached the South in the Orange County All-Star game returns for his eighth season.
