GAME AT A GLANCE
A team with great tradition goes against a team with none. Carpinteria has been in the finals the past three seasons, winning in 1987 and tying Tehachapi last year. Santa Margarita is in its first full season of varsity competition. To win, Santa Margarita must stop Carpinteria's veer option, which has produced 432 points (39.3 per game). Senior quarterback Coley Candaele, a third-year starter, is playing in his 10th playoff game. He has gained more than 2,100 yards passing and running.
HOW TO GO
From the interchange of the Santa Ana Freeway (1-5), the Garden Grove. Freeway (22) and the Orange Freeway (57), take the 5 south and exit on Avery Parkway. Go left past Marguerite Parkway and turn left on Plata Place. Follow to stadium parking.
