Junior DE Ross Cumming picked up five tackles, 3.5 sacks and recovered a fumble against Loyola. Ross is tied with senior DE Bryan Redsun for the team lead with six sacks. Cumming picked up a career-high nine tackles and a sack at Servite.

The Eagle’s senior linebacking crew leads the team in tackles in 2004. MLB Sean Aldridge picked up a team and career-high 17 tackles at Fountain Valley (15th best all-time in school history), and is currently tied with Mike Rusert for the team lead with 89 tackles. OLB Mike Rusert picked up a career-high 14 tackles against Mater Dei, 13 vs. SJB and 11 at Fountain Valley. Rusert has 120 in his career – 25th best all-time. OLB Colby Rodgers picked up a career-high 14 tackles vs. Mater Dei. With 145 career tackles he is 18th on the Eagles’ all-time career tackle list.

The Eagle pass defense has allowed only eight touchdown passes in the past 32 games since the end of the 2001 season.

Mike Fowle’s 48-yard field goal at Servite set a new school record for longest field goal. Mike is 3rd on the team with 32 points and has scored 75 points in his career.

RB/KR Russell Hoeflich’s blocked punt vs. Orange Lutheran game him four blocked kicks in his career. He also had his second career punt return for a touchdown vs. Bishop Amat in Week 7. Russell is second on the team with 278 rushing yards and two tds.

Senior RB Omar Villamar has 655 yards rushing on the year and 999 in his career. He also has 1,408 all-purpose yards – good for 15th on the all-time list. He is also 19th in total offense with 999 yards.

Junior QB Jon Daniels has enjoyed one of the best junior seasons of any QB in Eagle history with his 124 completions and 1,608 yards. His 1,667 career passing yards are already 8th best on the Eagles’ all-time list.

Juniors Jon Daniels and Tom Roby lead the team with four Player of the Game honors each.

Senior CB Jonathan Castillo’s 16 tackles at Servite set a new school record for tackles by a cornerback.

With 105 yards receiving against Dorsey Kyle Bryant became the 16th player to cross the century mark.

Junior SS J.D. Dawson forced a school record three fumbles at Loyola. He also had a recovery to boot.

1996 CIF Division V and Sea View League Defensive Player of the Year Damien Minna (SMHS Class of ’97) continues to recover and show progress after his unfortunate accident at Lake Mead on August 21 that has left him a paraplegic.
