In 2002: AWhite is enjoying another stellar season as his five straight 100-yard games ties his own school record. The two-time All-State and All-League RB rushed 25 times for 168 yards and scored one Td vs. St. John Bosco in Week 6. He also returned a punt 27 yards and caught one pass. It was his 16th career 100-yard game. He has scored at least one Td in 16 of his last 17 games, and rushed for 100 yards in five in a row and nine out of his last ten games. His 25 carries gave him 562 in his career and he is on pace to break the school record of 599 held by Josh Ireland. He now has 3,385 yards rushing in only 29 career games, and needs 812 to set the school career rushing record. Missed Weeks 7 and 8 due to lingering injuries. In Week 5, he rushed a season-high 30 times for 145 yards and one Td at Trabuco Hills. He also added a 34-yard Td reception and a 50-yard kickoff return. In Week 4, White rushed 17 times for 116 yards and scored three Tds at Fountain Valley despite playing in only four series. After rushing for 90 yards on 27 carries and scoring a touchdown against El Modena in Week 1 he doubled up his efforts by gaining 180 yards on 29 carries and scoring two touchdowns vs. Redlands the following week. He gained 106 yards on 21 carries vs. Dorsey in Week 3, but did not score a Td. Ashton's Td vs. Redlands was his 13th consecutive game with a Td - he ended four games shy of Ireland's record of 17 consecutive games with a Td.
In 2001: Ashton established himself as one of the top players in Southern California with this stellar play on offense, defense and special teams. White earned All-State Underclassman, All-Orange County, All-CIF and Serra League Most Valuable Player Honors. Ashton rushed for a team-high 1,642 yards, caught 11 passes for 141 yards and scored 25 total touchdowns and 152 points in 11 games. His 25 total Tds in 2001 are tied for the 2nd best single-season total. He also had 66-and 68-yard punt returns for touchdowns called back due to penalties, and a 25.8-yard kickoff return average to his credit. Defensively he finished 5th on the team with 68 tackles, including a career-high 22 vs. Tustin and had a sack, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and two interceptions on the season. Against Los Alamitos, in Week 12, White rushed for 164 yards and scored a Td while adding two receptions and eight tackles. It was his 8th 100-yard game of 2001 and 11th in his career. It was also the 11th consecutive game with a Td and also marked the first time an Eagle has scored at least one Td in every game. In Week 11, Ashton rushed 33 times for 254 yards and scored 26 points including four Tds to be named Cox Communications Player of the Game. His point total tied Josh Ireland's school record and his Td's tied the mark he had already shared. His 254-yard game was the sixth best in school history, and his 752 yards rushing over three games is a school record. White's four Tds vs. Rialto marked the ninth time in 10 games that he scored at least two. Against Mater Dei in Week 9, White rushed a career-high 33 times for 215 yards and scored two Tds. He also added five tackles to be named Cox Communications Player of the Game and the Orange County Register's Athlete of the Week. Ashton led the charge at St. John Bosco in Week 8 earning offensive, defensive and special teams Player of the Game honors with one of the greatest individual performances in Eagle history as the junior standout rushed 32 times for 283 yards and scored four touchdowns, registered a team-high 12 tackles, forced a fumble that thwarted a Brave scoring chance and set up a score with a 29-yard punt return. Ashton's four Tds tied the school record for Tds in a game, and his 283-yard effort that night was the 2nd highest single-game rushing total in Eagle history. During that game he became the 6th different Eagle to crack the 1,000-yard barrier in a season. White rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries, including the go ahead score with 10:42 remaining, then forced a fumble and recovered it on the Eagle seven yard line with only 1:20 left to lead the Eagles to an emotional 21-14 win over Los Alamitos in Week 2. In 2001, Ashton was named Player of the Game nine times.
In 2000: Ashton enjoyed an outstanding sophomore season earning All-Serra League First Team Honors, All-State (Underclassman) Honors and picking up the team's Impact Player of the Year Award and Co-Special Teams MVP Award. His 809 yards rushing were the second most on the team and rank as the 13th best single-season total. Ashton showed signs of how he may fare in 2001 at Servite in Week 10 as he rushed for 160 yards on a career-high 24 carries and scored a touchdown, recorded five tackles and his third interception of the season and returned five kickoffs for a 36.0 average including a 64-yard runback that set up an Eagle score. White had an outstanding all-around game vs. Mater Dei in Week 9 as he rushed 11 times for 47 yards, recovered a fumble and returned it 43-yards to set up the Eagles' first score, blocked a punt that set up another score, returned a kickoff 31 yards and recorded five tackles. His efforts earned him not only Special Teams Player of the Game honors, but his play near the line of scrimmage earned him Defensive Lineman of the Game honors! Ashton enjoyed his second consecutive 100-yard game with a 15-carry 137-yard performance against St. John Bosco in Week 8. He also added a 40-yard kickoff return and three tackles and received a perfect 100% grade by the coaches. White had his best rushing game of the season with a then career-high 164 yards on 16 carries, including a 55-yard run, and scored a touchdown at Bishop Amat in Week 6. His effort received a 97% grade from the coaching staff. The sophomore sensation collected a career-high 14 tackles against Tustin in Week 5. In Week 1, Ashton rushed 51 yards on only eight carries, registered four tackles and made a spectacular leaping interception near the end of the game to seal a hard fought Eagle victory. Ashton finished second on the team with a 24.5-yard kickoff return average, posted an 8.3-yard punt return average, blocked a punt and registered six special teams tackles.
In 1999: On the varsity level, White became only the second freshman to start a varsity game and ended up finishing fourth on the team in rushing with 129 yards on only 16 carries. Ashton's varsity highlights included a stunning 41-yard TD run as part of a six-carry, 77-yard performance vs. San Clemente. He also earned Offensive Player of the Game honors for his ten-carry, 52-yard effort at A.B. Miller in the CIF Playoffs. Ashton put together one of the finest seasons ever for an Eagle football player at any level as he rushed for an amazing 1,426 yards and scored 31 touchdowns on the freshman level leading his team to a perfect 9-0 record and the Serra League title. The Freshman MVP picked up four touchdowns in his first game at Carlsbad in Week 2, and scored six more touchdowns two weeks later against San Clemente. At Rancho Bernardo in Week 5, he scored Tds via rushing, a fumble return and a punt return.
Misc: Has been identified as one of the top two-way players in both California and the nation by several recruiting sources. Ashton has been named to CL Ronning's National Prep Observer's, California Hot 100 (Cal-Hi Sports) and TheInsiders' Top Prospect Lists, and the Sporting News' (Bobby Burton), Lindy's (Tom Lemming), Rivals.com and Street and Smith's Pre-Season All American teams. Ashton has been named to CL Ronning's National Prep Observer's Top Prospect List. Listed as the top RB in Southern California by Californiapreps.com. Received outstanding reviews for his effort at USC's One Day Camp in May and the UNLV Passing League Tournament in June. Has scholarship offers from Arizona, UNLV, Kansas and Colorado State. He is the 9th Eagle to be recognized as a High School All-American. In 28 varsity games White has been named a Player of the Game 18 times. He is 6th on the all-time interception list, 7th in total offense, 18th in fumble recoveries and 23rd in tackles. He is a member of the Power, Speed and Strength Eagle Clubs. Ashton was rated as the No. 3 running back in Orange County in 2000 by Gridiron Magazine going into his sophomore season. White played on the 1997 U.S. Champion Little League team. He is the son of former USC great and 1979 Heisman Trophy Winner Charles White.
