Congratulations to OL Jamie Azdair (Hamilton College), DB AJ Cruz (Brown), WR Gavin Escobar (San Diego State), QB Ryan World (Western Carolina University), OL Michael McFarland (William Jewell College), DL Matthew Bock (Washington State), WR Sean Willet (Arizona), DB Steven Steinmetz (Southern Methodist), and LB Morgan Viar (Air Force) from the class of 2009 who have committed to play football at the next level.

Jamie Azdair Wins Zug Award
Congratulations to Jamie Azdair, Eagle Football Class of 2009, on being awarded the Zug Award presented by the First Friday Friars Club. Jamie received the award on April 3, 2009 for epitomizing, "a belief in God, love of family, civic duty and of course, football." Other Eagle Alumni who received the award include: Ron Mehrens (1991); Ryan Korinke (1995); Ryan Sim (1997) and Thomas Hull in 2006.
Zug Cup Eagles

AJ Cruz Honored by the National Football Foundation
The Orange County Chapter of the National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Hall of Fame recognized AJ Cruz as one of the top football scholar-athletes in Orange County at the Anaheim Convention Center on Monday, March 9 at its 39th Annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet. Additionally, AJ was selected a Scholarship winner.  More recent SM honorees have been Matt Browning, Ryan Maxwell, Eric Reisinger and Charles Taylor, all Class of 2007 and Thomas Hull, Class of 2006. AJ has committed to football at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

DB AJ Cruz and WR Gavin Escobar were chosen to play for the South Team in the annual Orange County All-Star Game.

DB AJ Cruz, WR Sean Willet, QB Ryan World, and LB Troy Willet were named 1st Team All-Trinity League. WR Gavin Escobar, QB Logan Sweet, DL Justin Bennett, and DL Andrew Spangenberg were named 2nd Team All-Trinity League.

QB Ryan World and Greg Beaudoin led the Eagles offense. World finished with 215 yards passing and Beaudoin had 123 yards receiving on five catches, including a 51-yard touchdown.

Santa Margarita trailed by a touchdown at halftime in its upset bid of No. 3 Mater Dei, but the Monarchs strong second half carried them to a 57-28 victory in Trinity League action Friday night at Saddleback College.

The Braves (6-0) beat the Eagles (2-4) for the first time in four years. QB Ryan World completed eight passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns for the Eagles. A.J. Cruz took advantage of some of some unassertive tackling by the hosts and returned an Auburn Jimenez' kickoff for a 97-yard touchdown.

Wilting against a bigger, more physical team, Santa Margarita gave up four touchdowns in the second quarter and was beaten by Chaparral of Temecula, 42-31, at Saddleback College on Friday. The score was deceptively close as Santa Margarita (2-3) scored twice in the final 84 seconds against the Pumas' second team. QB Ryan World finished with 207 yards passing.

Last night's game between La Costa Canyon and Santa Margarita was all about the finish. The Eagles from Orange County did, and the Mavericks of LCC did not. QB Ryan World threw a 26-yard TD poass to Logan Sweet with 16 seconds remaining, and the Eagles win it, 18-14 against La Costa Canyon of Carlsbad.

Football is a momentum sport. Yet somehow, someway, Foothill was able to seize it by the collar and shake the life out of Santa Margarita. Foothill seized the momentum and subsequently a 30-26 nonleague victory over Santa Margarita on Friday at Saddleback College kicking a 37-yard field goal with 1:08 remaining.

Any time your name gets mentioned in the same breath as Carson Palmer's, it probably means you had a good night. Quarterback Ryan World threw for 337 yards and tied Carson Palmer’s single-game school record of 5 TD passes. The Eagles win a 42-20 victory over Poway, the defending San Diego County CIF Champions.

The Eagles lost their opening game to host St. Bonaventure. Sr. QB Ryan World finished with 239 yards on 18-of-31 passing, including two touchdowns and two interceptions. WR Gavin Escobar had nine catches for 162 yards and a touchdown.
