2005 Game Highlights: Hull caught two passes for 43 yards at St. John Bosco including a career-long 27-yard gain. Thomas punted for a 39.3 average including a 49-yarder, made four tackles and caught one pass for 12 yards at Bishop Amat in Week 8. Hull recorded a career-high seven tackles at Mater Dei after catching a career-high four passes for 51 yards vs. Loyola in Week 6. Thomas caught a 16-yard TD pass at Kealakehe and nailed a 54 yard punt which was downed at the one-yard line at Dorsey. Two of Hull’s punts have been over 50 yards and 15 of his 33 punts have been downed inside the 20 including all four vs. Loyola in Week 6. Hull has caught 11 passes for 158 yards on the season. His 35.8 career punting average is second all-time behind Trevor Yankoff’s school record of 37.7.
2005 Pre-Season: Hull impressed the coaches at Harvard and Yale this past summer with his booming punts.
Misc: Hull was Santa Margarita’s 2004 Special Teams MVP and Academic Award winner. Named The Orange County Register’s Scholar Athlete of the Week on November 1, 2005. Has a 4.57 GPA and scored 2,190 on his SATs. Member of the National Honor Society and will be the first Eagle football player to be awarded the very prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) degree. Volunteered for Catholic worker and served at a homeless shelter. Hull’s father, Michael, was a first round draft choice if the Chicago Bears in 1968 and went on to play seven seasons in the NFL for the Bears and Redskins. Played in Super Bowl VII and in two Rose Bowls for USC. Grandfather Warren Bruce Hull started both ways for USC in the early 1930s.
