Bishop Amat - Game Notes

This is the first ever meeting between the Bishop Amat Lancers and Santa Margarita. It marks the highest profile game that the Eagles have played in during their 11 year existence. Bishop Amat is ranked 1st in CIF-SS Division I and in Southern California, 2nd in the State, 7th in the West by USA Today and 17th in the Nation per Fox Sports West's "Fab 50". They are also the second winningest team in State history behind Concord De La Salle:

The Lancers compete in CIF-SS Division I. With the win over CIF-SD Division I Rancho Bernardo, the Eagles are 15-5 (.750) vs. Division I teams over the years including an 11-4 (.733) mark vs. CIF-SS Division I teams.

This is Santa Margarita's 130th varsity game, and 68th home game. The Eagles are currently 98-30-1 (.764) as they enter Week 6 of their 11th varsity season. 1999 is the Eagles first season competing in CIF-SS Division I.

The Eagles' all-time home record is 53-13-1 (.799), and they are 49-10-1 (.825) at Saddleback College.

Santa Margarita is not ranked in the Orange County or Division I Top 10, but they did receive some votes.

COACHES
Eagle Head Coach Jim Hartigan is 98-30-1 (.764) in his 11th season as varsity Head Coach. Overall Coach Hartigan has a 114-33-2 (.827) if you include 10-0 and 6-3-1 lower level teams that he led in 1987 and 1988 respectively before the Eagles fielded varsity teams. He was honored as the both the 1996 and 1997 Daily Pilot Sea View League Coach of the Year, CIF-SS Division V Coach of the Year and the National Football Foundation Orange County Coach of the Year. The Lancers are led by first-year coach Randy DeMitt who is 5-0 (.667) at Bishop Amat.
