#6 Matt Lopez
Matt caught four passes against Aliso Niguel after picking up three vs. Woodbridge. Matt had a career-day at Newport Harbor in Week 8 as he caught six passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns (five and 46 yards) to earn co-Offensive Player of the Game honors. Matt rushed four times for 23 yards and caught one pass for 27 yards vs. CdM. Matt caught two passes for 24 yards vs. Rancho Bernardo, including the game winning 15-yard touchdown reception with 6:22 left, to earn Offensive Skill Player of the Game. Matt caught four passes at San Clemente, after picking up two receptions for 34 yards at Dana Hills with a then career-long 25-yarder. Lopez also enjoyed a great game against Carlsbad as he caught a career-high four passes for 40 yards including a 19-yarder. Matt has 32 receptions for 348 yards and three touchdowns on the year. 1997: Matt had a fine all around season in 1997 as he finished fourth on the team with 255 yards rushing and two TDs, and caught one pass for eight yards. At Servite in Week 3, Lopez recorded a career high 81 yards rushing including a 51-yard Td run. On defense, Matt recorded 6 tackles, broke up three passes and returned an interception 61 yards at Corona del Mar. 1996: Lopez rushed for 64 yards on nine carries (a 7.1 average) and gained a season high 48 yards and 46-yard run against El Modena. Matt also added one tackle. Misc: Matt has 33 career catches for 357 yards. Lopez is 14th in career rushing with 418 yards, and he is tied for 30th in career scoring with 30 points. Lopez has a 4.56 40 time and a 4.29 pro agility time. Matt has recorded a 245 bench press, 355 squat and 30" vertical jump. Matt is also a War Eagle. |
