#19 Matt Froehlich
Matt is having an outstanding year. The first-year player has scored in 11 out of 13 games so far and was named to the All-Sea View League Second Team. Matt has scored 63 points this season and has sent 32 of 58 kickoffs this year (55.2%) for touchbacks. In the playoffs, Matt is 10 for 10 in PATs. Against Newport Harbor, Matt connected on all five of his PATs and added a 36-yard field goal. In Week 7 vs. CdM, he had field goals of 27 and 33 yards and successfully engineeered two onsides kicks. At El Toro, Matt picked up seven points including a 24-yard field goal. Against Rancho Bernardo, he scored six points including a 21-yard field goal. The coaches had enough faith in him to allow a 52-yard attempt that had the distance but traveled wide. Matt had a career-high 10-point effort against Carlsbad. Matt has been named Special Teams Player of the Game twice (Carlsbad and Dana Hills) and leads the team in scoring with 63 points. Matt’s 10 field goals are the third most in Orange County and his 17 attempts are a school record. Froehlich has converted 33 of 35 of his PAT attempts and has connected from 21, 22, 24, 25, 27, 31, 33, 36, 39 and 44 yards. Misc: Matt is an honor roll student. |
