Ross Cumming - USC
Ross Cumming was a tight end and linebacker at Santa Margarita High. As a senior he had 45 tackles on defense and 9 receptions for 146 yards (16.2 avg.) with 4 TDs (including a 65-yarder). As a junior in 2004, he made All-Serra League while getting 60 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries and 3 deflections. Originally a walk-on who earned a scholarship in 2010, the 26-year-old Cumming was a 4-year (2008-11) letterman at USC. He was a reserve linebacker and special teams player who as a 2011 senior also served as the backup fullback and worked some at tight end. He had 35 career tackles while appearing in 47 games. He had 3 tackles as a first-year freshman in 2008, then added 9 stops in 2009 and 8 in 2010. He made 15 tackles, returned a blocked punt 17 yards (at Oregon) and caught 2 passes for 16 yards (8.0 avg.) in 2011 while winning USC's Special Teams Player of the Year Award. After graduation he became an assistant coach for the Trojans. |
