Brian Finneran helps a young cyclist ensure a proper helmet fit
Falcons receiver Brian Finneran joined forces with the Gainesville/Hall County SAFE KIDS program on June 13, 2001. He participated in fitting children with helmets, signed autographs, and did the Channel 32 News interview.

Gainesville/Hall County SAFE KIDS conducted a helmet safety program for the participants of the Hall County Sheriff's Office DARE program's DARE to DREAM Camp. The camp was aimed to teach children ages 10 - 13 about personal safety, the consequences of gang activity and self esteem.

The helmet safety program began with a presentation by Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Brian Finneran, whose brother-in-law incurred a severe head injury from a skateboard crash with no helmet. Brian shared his family's personal story and then helped SAFE KIDS volunteers teach kids how to properly fit a helmet.

Of the 150 kids participating, 128 did not have a helmet and received a free one from SAFE KIDS. The program ended with a bike rodeo in which kids practiced bike safety rules on an obstacle course. For more information about bike safety or SAFE KIDS, call 770-533-8095.
