R.J. Mazolewski - Cal Poly
R.J. Mazolewski '13 amassed 123 total tackles, a school record for a safety, as a senior under head coach Harry Welch at Santa Margarita Catholic High Schoo. Six games of 10 or more tackles, including a season-high 17 against St. John Bosco, and also recorded three interceptions, five pass deflections and one forced fumble. Also returned 13 kickoffs for a 19.1 average, including a 62-yarder for a touchdown against Carson. Earned first-team All-Trinity League honors and second-team All-Orange County accolades. Eagles were 9-3 in 2012, finished third in the Trinity League at 3-2 and reached the quarterfinal round of the CIF-Southern Section Pac 5 playoffs. Eearned second-team All-Trinity League honors as a junior after notching 67 tackles and intercepting four passes, helping the Eagles to a 13-2 overall record and CIF-Southern Section Pac 5 and state Division I titles. Played in the Orange County North vs. South All-Star Game. Also played lacrosse. A California Scholastic Federation member with a grade-point average above 3.50. |
