Santa Margarita starts fast

MISSION VIEJO, CA., September 8, 2006 – Santa Margarita scored twice in just over three minutes and went on to a 51-17 victory over Paloma Valley of Menifee in a non-league game at Saddleback College on Friday night.

The Eagles (2-0) needed only four plays to lead 7-0 on a 19-yard run by Chris Spangenberg. The Wildcats (0-1) fumbled on their first snap, setting up another Spangenberg touchdown. He finished with 11 carries for 55 yards - all in the first half.

Ryan Maxwell had a 43-yard interception return for a touchdown for the Eagles. And Adam Hovsepian recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for another.

Wildcats reserve quarterback Jon Roohy completed all six of his passes in the second half for 138 yards. He also scored a touchdown on a quarterback keeper.

Santa Margarita - which had no turnovers forced four; two in each half.
