Yankoff's 3 TD passes lift Santa Margarita
MISSION VIEJO, CA., October 6, 1989 – Trevor Yankoff completed 13 of 19 passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns as the Santa Margarita Eagles shut out the Miraleste Marauders, 19-0, Friday in an Olympic League game at Saddleback College.
The victory keeps the Eagles (4-1,2-0) in first place in their first full year of varsity play. Miraleste fell to 3-2, 1-1.
Yankoff was 10 of 15 for 140 yards in the first half. He also threw two interceptions in the fourth quarter.
Yankoff's first touchdown was a 23-yard pass to David Shearer in the second quarter. Shearer had eight receptions for 112 yards in the game. Yankoff hit Josh Ireland with a 16-yard touchdown pass, giving the Eagles a 12-0 lead at halftime.
Yankoff's third touchdown pass was his most impressive as he faked a handoff, then hit Eric Brown for a 60-yard touchdown.
