LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- UCLA offensive tackle Kris Farris, a key player on one of the nation's most explosive offenses, tonight was given the Outland Trophy as college football's top interior lineman.

A 6-foot-9, 310 pound junior, Farris has started all 34 games during his career. This season, he helped UCLA's offense average 40.5 points and 482.6 yards per game earned first-team All-American honors from the Football Writers Association of America, the Football News and the Walter Camp Foundation.

DESPITE BLOCKING IN THE BRUINS' pass-heavy offense, Farris did not allow a sack of quarterback Cade McNown as UCLA captured the Pac-10 Conference title and a berth in the Rose Bowl for the first time since 1994.

Wisconsin offensive lineman Aaron Gibson, whose team will oppose UCLA in the Rose Bowl, and Georgia Tech center Craig Page also were finalists for the Outland Trophy.
